What to Look For When Buying Zigbee Sensors

• Zigbee2MQTT support: Check the Zigbee2MQTT supported devices list before buying. Supported devices expose all features; unsupported ones may pair but report nothing useful.
• Battery type: CR2032 and CR2450 cells are widely available and cheap. Avoid sensors that need proprietary batteries or rechargeable built-ins — you'll curse the USB cable in an inconvenient location.
• End device vs router: Battery-powered sensors are always end devices (they don't extend the mesh). Mains-powered sensors can be routers — factor this into your mesh planning.
