The Lockly Secure Pro sits in the premium end of the smart lock market, and it wants you to know it. Between the rotating PIN Genie keypad, built-in fingerprint reader, voice control support, and a design that looks more upscale than most chunky black rectangles, this is a lock aimed at homeowners who want more than basic remote locking.

After spending time testing the Secure Pro in a real household setup, our main takeaway is simple: this is a feature-rich lock that does several things genuinely well, but you are absolutely paying for the extra polish. If your priorities are fast biometric access and strong app controls, the Lockly earns its place. If you just want a cheap Wi-Fi deadbolt, it is probably more lock than you need.

Design & Features

Lockly's standout design trick is the PIN Genie keypad. Instead of keeping the same number layout all the time, the numbers shift position each time the keypad wakes up. That means someone watching over your shoulder sees where you tap, but not necessarily the code itself. It sounds gimmicky until you use it for a few days and realise it is actually clever.

The Secure Pro also includes a fingerprint sensor built into the exterior handle, a traditional physical key backup, and a Wi-Fi hub for remote access. Depending on the finish, it looks more like an upmarket entry lock than a gadget, which is not something we say about every smart lock.

Installation

Installation is manageable for anyone who has changed a deadbolt before. The Secure Pro replaces a standard US deadbolt, and the included hardware is well labelled. The exterior assembly is a little heavier and bulkier than simpler locks, so an extra pair of hands helps when feeding cables through the door. Still, it is not a nightmare job.

Setup in the app takes a bit longer than on an August lock because you are configuring more things: admin codes, fingerprint users, Wi-Fi bridge pairing, and door handing. None of it is difficult, but this is not a five-minute unbox-and-go device either.

Fingerprint Performance

This is the reason most people buy the Secure Pro, and thankfully it is one of the better fingerprint implementations we have tested on a residential lock. Once a fingerprint is enrolled properly, unlock speed is fast — usually around one second. Recognition was reliable for our primary users, though, like all fingerprint sensors, performance drops a bit with wet fingers, overly dry skin, or rushed placement.

Compared with budget fingerprint locks, Lockly feels more consistent. We saw fewer failed reads and less hesitation. It is not phone-level biometric magic, but for a door lock it is very good. If you often come home carrying groceries, a fingerprint unlock is a lot more pleasant than waking a keypad or fishing out your phone.

App & Smart Home Support

The Lockly app is better than expected. It gives you remote locking, access history, user management, code scheduling, and alert settings. The user access controls are particularly useful if you have family members, cleaners, dog walkers, or short-term guests. You can create time-limited or recurring access codes without much fuss.

Voice support works with Alexa and Google Assistant, though like most smart locks, sensitive actions require a PIN or are limited for security reasons. Home Assistant integration is not as straightforward or as beloved by enthusiasts as Yale, Schlage, or August, so tinkerers may find the ecosystem a little more closed than they prefer.

For mainstream users, though, the app does what it should: it feels modern, reasonably intuitive, and stable enough for everyday use.

Battery Life

The Secure Pro runs on standard batteries, and battery life is respectable given the bright keypad, Wi-Fi functionality, and fingerprint hardware. Expect roughly six to nine months in a typical household, though heavy usage and cold weather will drag that number down. Lockly provides low-battery warnings in the app, and there is a physical key backup for emergencies.

We still prefer locks that separate Bluetooth operation from Wi-Fi with a bridge, because direct Wi-Fi always costs battery life. But in real-world use, the battery trade-off here is acceptable.

Verdict

The Lockly Secure Pro is one of the most full-featured smart locks you can buy without wandering into niche luxury territory. Its fingerprint reader is fast, the PIN Genie keypad is genuinely smart, and the app offers good user management for busy households. The downsides are mostly predictable: a higher price, a slightly more involved setup, and an ecosystem that is not quite as enthusiast-friendly as some rivals.
