What makes the Reolink Duo 3 PoE different from a normal 4K camera?

The headline feature is simple: the Duo 3 PoE can watch an ultra-wide area without the fisheye distortion that usually ruins 180-degree cameras. It uses two lenses and stitches them into one panoramic frame that reaches up to 7680 x 2160 resolution, which Reolink markets as 16MP. In practice, that means you can cover a two-car driveway, a wide front garden, or an entire garage frontage with one camera instead of mounting two separate 4K bullets.

That matters because most affordable 4K cameras, including the excellent Reolink RLC-810A, sit closer to an 87-degree horizontal field of view. They are sharper in the center of the frame, but they simply cannot see as much. In those spots, the Duo 3 PoE is genuinely cost-effective. Two decent $75 to $100 cameras plus two cable runs quickly erase its price disadvantage.

Skip it if you need the absolute best long-distance identification, if your mounting position is cramped, or if your coverage area is naturally narrow. In those cases, the cheaper RLC-810A makes more sense. Likewise, if you are fully committed to UniFi Protect and want everything inside one polished dashboard, the G5 Pro may fit your system better even though it is worse value on coverage.
